Getting your teeth straightened no longer means transforming into a “metal mouth.” Dr. Kelli Brady can help you get the straight smile you’ve always wanted with Invisalign clear aligners in Norwood, New Jersey, and New York. But how exactly does Invisalign work? Let’s do a deep dive and learn more.
Instead of brackets and wires, you wear a series of clear aligners (sometimes called trays) that fit snugly over your teeth and are practically invisible. Invisalign aligners are made from a thermoplastic material called SmartTrack, which means they’re much more comfortable than braces could ever dream of being.
The first time you meet with Dr. Brady, you’ll map out your new smile. First, she’ll ensure Invisalign is the best fit for you. Once that’s in order, the team takes digital X-rays and photos of your teeth. Then, we’ll use a scanner to create a super accurate 3D image of your mouth.
With this technology, Dr. Brady can show you a simulation of how your teeth will shift during the Invisalign process. And you’ll even get to see exactly what your smile will look like at the end of your Invisalign journey.
There are lots of things to love about Invisalign.
This system works through a carefully planned sequence of movements. Based on your initial scan, your clear aligners are customized just for you. Each tray is shaped slightly differently from the last. You’ll wear each set for one or two weeks, and they apply a gentle but constant force to your teeth. Slowly, your teeth will start shifting into their new positions.
Invisalign aligners are made from a smooth thermoplastic material. This means you don’t have to worry about mouth irritation. Since they’re removable, you can take them out for eating and doing your oral hygiene. The key is wearing them for between 20 and 22 hours daily.
One of the best things about Invisalign is how flexible the aligners are. If you have a big event, like a wedding or a job interview, you can take your aligners out for a few hours. Dr. Brady will tell you how to manage these situations so they don’t slow down your progress.
