Did you skip getting metal braces in high school, or did you wear them but find that your teeth have shifted back? Today’s orthodontics offer a discreet and comfortable solution: Invisalign clear aligners. Dr. Kelli Brady at Kelli Brady DDS in New York, New York, is here to help.
Invisalign uses transparent, custom-made aligners that gently move teeth to their right positions. There is no need for bulky brackets and wires that give you a metal mouth. Invisalign clear aligners are made from a special material called SmartTrack®, which is more comfortable and allows for predictable tooth movement.
The biggest difference is that you can barely see the aligners. A huge plus. Because they’re clear, most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth. You can take them out for a big work presentation or a special occasion.
The second bonus? They’re removable. No major life disruptions. No having to do dental floss gymnastics to take care of your teeth. And maybe best of all? You can still eat all the foods you love. Hello, popcorn and corn on the cob!
Choosing Invisalign comes with some really great benefits.
Dr. Brady’s team will take digital X-rays and photos and use a scanner to create a precise 3D image of your teeth. Using this digital model, Dr. Brady will map out your entire treatment plan. And this is awesome: You’ll be able to see a simulation of how your teeth will move and what your smile will look like when the Invisalign process is finished.
Here’s what you can expect during the Invisalign treatment process.
For Invisalign to work its magic, you’ll need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day. Basically, you should only take them out to eat, drink (unless it’s water), brush, and floss.
With Invisalign, there are zero dietary restrictions. Because you take the aligners out before you eat, you can keep eating all your favorite foods. Just make sure you brush your teeth before you put them back in.
